As you can see from the pictures on the left, Rachel really is having a baby, despite the fact that for years, she was NEVER having children. Click on the pictures to make them bigger. (I added another one down below)My doc appt was this past Thurs and I was extremely nervous. Since I'm not having very many symptoms I was starting to feel like this was all a dream. As soon as the picture showed up on the screen I was filled with joy and relief. The tech had quite a bit of trouble trying to get the images she needed and immediately I thought uh oh, Brian and I are really in for the ride of our lives. This little bugger is VERY VERY stubborn, and we all know where he or she is getting that from, now don't we?!?!?
The tech kept jabbing away at me trying to get the baby to move. Apparently it was nestled all comfortably in this little pocket in the placenta and was perfectly content staying that way. Every time the tech would poke me, it would wiggle a little and nestle back down in the pocket. She had me roll over on my side and that got Baby Sibiga to cooperate just enough so that she could get the measurements she needed. We got to see the little heart just beating away, 166 bpm (myth has it if the heart rate is over 140, there is a good chance it's a girl) Despite the pictures we got to bring home, I was amazed at how good you could see the images on the screen. It was easy to recognize the spine and ribs. When the tech showed us the hands, it looked like our baby was praying. After the picture show we went to speak with the midwife and she asked if we had heard the heartbeat yet, because we hadn't, she used a doppler and as soon as she put the wand up to my belly we could hear the little "swoosh swoosh swoosh swoosh". The whole visit was just completely amazing, I've never heard or seen anything like it.
Once the baby is born, I'm intending to print out this website (as best I can) and put it in a scrapbook or memory book of some kind. I've decided rather than to journal my pregnancy in a notebook, I'll just do it here, that way everyone can share in it. Feel free to leave Baby Sibiga a comment or the new parents to be advice by clicking on the comment hyperlink at the end of any post (not the white envelope). I've set this blog so that anyone can comment and you don't have to have a google account. Also, don't forget to vote if it's a boy or girl at the bottom of the page. Thanks!!
